Zach and his peer tutoring program have impressed us since first meeting him at the Kent back to school night.
He and the other founders conceived and created Peer Tutoring all on there own without teacher or faculty involvement.
It was clear Zach and his Peer Tutors are smart entrepreneurs.
The oldest, and still the most powerful, teaching tactic for fostering critical thinking is Socratic teaching and Peer Tutoring's concept of older students teaching younger students is Socratic teaching.
We were looking for a tutor for Jack, our 12 year old, to support him with a challenging advanced math class.
After meeting Zach, we gave Peer Tutoring a tryout. I was particularly impressed with Zach's maturity, and his teaching skills. Zach is a natural educator and his style and skills are intuitive.
After the very first session Zach had connected with Jack and even taught him several tricks to solve complicated math problems.
Zach and Jack work together once a week and we are all very pleased with the tangible results with his advanced math grades and more importantly the positive benefits of peer mentoring.
Jack says that someday when he gets to be Zach's age, he too will become a Peer Tutor and he will continue to grow through Socratic teaching.
I strongly recommend Peer Tutoring to all families.
